Social
Tennis Update
Monday
nights
By popular
demand, an ADVANCED SOCIAL TENNIS SESSION has been agreed
for MONDAY EVENINGS from 1 September onwards at 6pm. Any
players who regularly attend the Wednesday evening and /
or Sunday afternoon Social Tennis sessions who would like
to play more competitively are welcome to come along. One
court will be allocated in the first instance and if the
sessions are well attended, a second court may be allocated.
This is also an opportunity for competitive social tennis
players to taste Match Practice sessions and be considered
for League play in the future

Social
Tennis Wednesday
nights
Don
Shears has kindly offered to organize the Wednesday evening
Social Tennis sessions for the Club. The Tennis Committee,
having given the idea serious consideration, feels this
would be of great benefit to both the players attending
Social play, as well as the Club generally. It would maximize
the potential of the sessions through skilled and impartial
stewarding, as well as giving them a higher and very marketable
profile. Don is of course the UK Veterans Captain
and what Club wouldnt want to be able to make that
claim!
With
the prospect of more potential members viewing the Club
over the coming months, the Tennis Committee feel that having
Don looking after the session, would give an added incentive
for those people to join. The Committee is also aware that
having an independent, impartial organizer, works very well
at Clifton Tennis Club and at Cotham Park, where the sessions
are well attended and there are waiting lists to join.
Therefore,
the Committee has gratefully accepted Dons generous
offer to start on the 6 February on a 6-month trial period,
after which period it will be reviewed.
The
system:
All
players need to check-in on arrival in the front
bar . Don will organise the games, aiming to create a balanced
foursome whenever possible. He will keep a record of attendees,
collect the monthly ball contributions and distribute balls
.Don will also be able to offer doubles tactical advice
(if wanted) during the evening
The
Games
Sets
will consist of 9 games for a speedier turnaround. Scores
will be kept via the mobile on court score-boards and Don
will record these in order to give the evening a more competitive
edge
Sunday
afternoon social sessions will continue to run as normal

Veteran's
Tennis
The
Veterans Section also continues to thrive with opportunities
for Summer and winter League play for the competitive players
as well as social play opportunities on Tuesday and Friday
afternoons from 1.30pm to 4pm.

BLTSC
Tennis Court Etiquette
PLEASE
REMEMBER THAT THESE RULES APPLY EQUALLY TO BOTH ADULT AND
JUNIOR MEMBERS.
Please do not walk behind players whilst a game or a rally
is in progress, this is to avoid distracting other members
and most importantly to avoid any potential accidents on
court.
If you are trying to cross a court please wait until you
are invited to and it is safe to do so.
Finally, when playing please wear recognised sports clothing
(not jeans etc) and most importantly "Tennis Shoes
". This is for two reasons, first, other shoes mark
the hard courts and damage the grass courts and second,
non tennis shoes do not grip the courts as well and can
cause accidents and avoidable injury if you were to fall
or slip.
